Several years ago, they had proclamations presented by the mayor of San Jose and Governor Schwarzenegger at the CSRT annual conference during radiologic technology week. Another year, they had proclamations from the mayor of Los Angeles for the CSRT event that was held there. To get involved in her workplace, Clausen made a collage displaying the various anatomical parts of the body utilizing the different imaging equipment. The collage was used to “quiz” the hospital staff to see if they could guess the image. Prizes were given from a drawing on a daily basis. Posters were displayed with history and information about each imaging modality such as X-ray, CT, and MRI.

www.healthecareers.com

Fair encompassed every aspect of radiology

National Radiologic Technology Week® honoring the hard work and accomplishments of
Radiologic Technologists (RTs) is celebrated each year during the week that includes Nov. 8,
the day German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the X-ray in 1895. Weeks in advance, the NRTW Committee members gathered to plan activities which would include all department personnel in the three hospitals and numerous outreach settings. Games and contests were devised to challenge the technologists’ knowledge of trivia, currents events, and clinical information. The annual “Buzz Bowl” competition took place in which teams of four individuals matched wits to win prizes—and bragging rights—in a “Jeopardy”-like game format. The “Duck Pond QaPI Contest” teamed individual technologists from several modalities to answer challenging questions related to Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Standards. Making it fun were the little rubber duckies in a blue duck pond that bore the questions to be answered. Sundaes and sub sandwiches were enjoyed by the technologists, and a special luncheon was provided by our radiologists, and, yes, we had desserts. What is NRTW without dessert? Another annual theme of NRTW at South coast is community service. This year, each hospital and its surrounding outreach offices collected nonperishable food items and clothing for local homeless shelters. We also began out annual collection to provide several Thanksgiving baskets for local families.

The Exposure,
Massachusetts Society of Radiologic Technologists

Newest machines have the capabilities

Mercy Hospital Devils Lake celebrated National Radiologic Technology Week® by having an open house featuring 3D ultrasound. Each year, radiologic technologists celebrate the day Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the X-ray, Nov. 8, 1895. This year’s week-long celebration calls attention to the vital work technologists perform in the health care field on a daily basis, and the highly technical images they produce. During the course of the week, Spangdahlem R.T.’s are
promoting the role they play in providing quality patient care and a safe health care environment with their knowledge of radiation safety and imaging expertise. Young is among 200 radiologic technologists celebrated by the hospital last week with an array of events including a lecture series, a poster presentation and a buffet dinner. Technologists also received jackets with their department logo. The events recognized the work of radiographers and also highlighted the success of those who have trained at BWH, and BWH’s commitment to training the next generation of technologists. “We offer the best training because today’s students are tomorrow’s radiologic technologists,” said Carl Patturelli, RT, MEd, MBA, director of Education for Radiology. Angela Covington recently was hired as a radiologic technologist. “I hope to celebrate many more of these weeks in the future,” said Covington. A vital link in patient care, radiologic technology provides the means by which pathologies may be determined, treatment planned and administered, and patient health restored.

Millennium Staffing Inc. celebrates National Radiologic Technology Week® with a new website. The annual event is recognized in November, and coincides with Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s discovery of X-rays on November 8, 1895. NRTW has become an annual event recognizing radiologic technologists across the nation, to celebrate and promote their hard work and important contributions to health care. Roentgen discovered X-rays in his laboratory, and revolutionized science and medicine as we know it. He could have never predicted that the art of imaging would be so specifically organized and professed by a group of radiologic technologists who take such pride in their career.

Millennium Staffing Inc. would like to take this opportunity to give a “high five” to all of its hard working employees in the radiology field and looks forward to a healthy, robust relationship with you in the coming year.
Millennium Staffing Inc.
